Lead Pastors
Phil & Esther planted Rediscover Church Newton Abbot in January 2023 as part of the Church Planting Team from Rediscover Church Exeter.
They have led and served in local churches and businesses for over 2 decades and have the heart to see people come into a close relationship with Jesus Christ.

Matt Machin
Associate Pastor /Worship Lead
Matt supports the Lead Pastors in shepherding the church family through pastoral care and leadership. He is passionate about helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus and equipping them to live out their faith in everyday life.
Matt brings integrity, humility, and spiritual insight to the team. With a heart for discipleship and a deep love for God and His Word, he serves as a trusted leader and encourager within the church. We’re excited to see how God will continue to work through him.
James and Ellie Rutley
Lead Team/ 0-30’s Ministry Lead/Safeguarding Officer (Ellie)
James and Ellie are the passionate leaders of our vibrant 0–30s ministry, which serves children, youth, young adults, and young families.
With a heart for seeing the next generation grow in their faith, they create welcoming, age-appropriate environments where individuals can encounter Jesus, build lasting relationships, and discover their God-given purpose. Their leadership brings energy, creativity, and spiritual depth to this vital area of our church, helping to lay strong foundations for a lifetime of faith.

Discoveryland Kids Team
Help shape young hearts for Jesus in a fun, safe, and engaging environment! The Discoveryland Kids Team serves children during Sunday services through storytelling, crafts, and activities tailored to their age and stage of learning.

6-11’s
Young Adults Team
Our Young Adults meet as a Life Group every Wednesday evening with organised socials once a month.
Tech Team
Love working behind the scenes? The Tech Team plays a vital role in making every service run smoothly. From managing audio and microphones to running visuals and presentations, your support helps create a seamless worship experience.
Areas to serve:
Audio (PA) – Set up and manage sound for worship and preaching
Visuals (AV) – Operate slides, videos, and on-screen content
Setup & Support – Assist with technical setup and troubleshooting
No experience? No problem—we’ll train you!
Ushering Team
Help create a warm and welcoming environment each Sunday! As an usher, you’ll greet attendees, assist with seating, help set up the space, and support the flow of service with a friendly smile. It’s a powerful way to serve and make people feel at home.
Youth Team
Help guide and support teens as they grow in faith and friendship. We gather every Friday, 7–9pm, for conversation, games, and a short Bible study.

Worship Team
Do you have a heart for leading others into God’s presence through music? The Worship Team is made up of vocalists and musicians who serve during Sunday services.
Whether you sing, play an instrument, or have a passion for worship, we’d love to hear from you!

Media Team
Help share the story of what God is doing in our church! The Media Team covers everything from sound and livestream to photography, video, and social media.
Whether you're behind a camera, managing slides, editing videos, or creating engaging content online, your creativity can help us reach and inspire others both in-person and beyond
Refreshments Team
Love hospitality? The Refreshment Team helps serve coffee, tea, and biscuits after services. It’s a great way to create a warm, inviting space for fellowship and connection.
If you enjoy serving with a smile and making people feel at home, this team is for you!
Transport Team
Help our church family get to and from services safely! The Minibus Team provides transportation for members who need a ride, making it easier for everyone to get to church!
