What an incredible month it’s been! From our amazing Sundays to moments of connection across the life of our church, in prayer walks, men's/women's socials, Discoveryland Kids, Youth and Young Adult ministries! God is at work — and we are so thankful for everything He’s doing in Newton Abbot.
As we wrap up July and prepare for a slower August, here’s everything you need to know and look forward to — including the start of our Deo Gloria Coffee Shop Gatherings in August, baptisms, youth updates, and our exciting move in September!

August Sundays at Deo Gloria Coffee Shop:
On the 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th of August, we’re doing things a little differently—our 10:30am service will be held at our wonderful Deo Gloria Coffee Shop (11–15 Bank Street, TQ12 2JL)!
Come early from 10:00am to enjoy tea, coffee, and pastries served by our amazing refreshments team.
After the service, the Deo Gloria coffee bar will open for an hour, so you can grab your favourite hot or cold drink and enjoy some quality time with our wonderful church family.
We can’t wait to see you there!
Sunday 31st August – Rediscover Church, Exeter:
On the last Sunday of the month (August 31st), we’re not gathering in Newton Abbot. Instead, we’re heading over to Rediscover Church in Exeter (Unit 1, Haven Banks, Water Lane, EX2 8DU) to worship alongside our wider church family for their 10:30am service.
We’d love for everyone to come!

31 Days of Devotion – The Spirit-Filled Church:
This month we’re digging into a daily journey of becoming a truly Spirit-filled church — living lives marked by the presence, power, and fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Each day throughout August, we’ll be sharing short, inspiring devotions via email, helping us all stay rooted and refreshed in God’s Word.
Whether you’re on holiday or at home, take just a moment a day to lean into the Word. 🙏
Baptisms – Sunday 3rd August:
Lives being transformed by Jesus is so exciting, and baptisms are such a powerful public step of faith.
We’re thrilled to be celebrating baptisms on Sunday 3rd August during our service at Deo Gloria. If you’ve said “yes” to Jesus but haven’t yet been baptised and would like to be, come and chat with Matt Machin on Sunday, or email him directly at matt.machin@rediscoverchurch.com to take that next bold step in your walk with God.
Limitless Festival:
The countdown is on! Our youth are heading to Limitless Festival — a five-day explosion of faith, fun, and friendships with thousands of young people from across the UK.
🎧 Epic worship.
🔥 Life-changing teaching.
🎉 Non-stop fun, activities, and connection.
If you’re aged 11–18, you do not want to miss this! It’s more than just a camp — it’s where hearts are set on fire for Jesus.

Youth Summer Dates:
We want to keep you informed about what’s happening with our youth group over the next month.
Join us tonight (July 25th) and again on August 1st for our usual Youth gatherings, happening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Deo Gloria.
Please note that from August 8th through August 29th, the youth group will be taking a summer break as they prepare to go to Limitless.
Youth will return on 5th September 🎉
We look forward to welcoming everyone back and continuing to build faith and friendships.

Family Gathering – Saturday 2nd August
Calling all families with young children — Matt and Caroline Machin are hosting another relaxed and fun-filled Young Families Gathering on Saturday 2nd August, from 10am–12pm, at their home.
No need to book in - just show up and enjoy a morning together with other families.

Big Church Festival
Young Adults, the countdown is on—Big Church Festival is just around the corner, happening from 22nd to 24th August! This is going to be an incredible weekend full of incredible worship. If you haven’t booked your spot yet, just send a quick message in the Young Adults group chat to secure your place.
Alpha Course
🗓️ 2 key dates are happening for Alpha:
Friday 5th September – Alpha Pre-Launch | 7:00pm–8:30pm
Join us for a fun and relaxed evening as we introduce the Alpha course! If you're unsure whether Alpha is for you, this is the perfect opportunity to come along, get a taste of what it’s all about, and see if it’s the right fit. We’d love to see you there!
Then... Alpha Course launches on Sunday 14th September, running from 6:30pm–8:15pm for 10 weeks in the Upperroom of Deo Gloria Coffee Shop (Bank Street building) in Newton Abbot. 🎉
