Welcome to the Week of Prayer - Day 1 (Monday 23rd April 2018)
If you missed Pastor Mark's introduction to the week, you can catch up here.
When Jesus was asked ‘teach us how to pray’ he answered with what has become known as the Lord’s prayer. He didn’t give it to us so we could recite it, but so we could have a template to help us in our prayers. We will be looking at this prayer template over our week of prayer.
TODAY, WE BEGIN WITH "OUR FATHER"...
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Your name…
Who you are determines how you ask! For example, would you confidently approach a complete stranger and ask them to look after your house while you’re on holiday? You wouldn’t for a number of reasons - you don’t know them, you have no reason to trust them and you would probably find it just plain weird asking a stranger to help in such a way.
We don’t approach God as strangers – we approach Him as his children! You are His son / daughter and you approach Him from that perspective. When we know Him we find we can trust Him and be confident about who He is.
But He’s not just a father, He is your heavenly Father. He is the first and last, the beginning and the end, the one who hold all things together and you get to call him daddy. That may sound disrespectful but that is the meaning of the word ‘Abba’. We call Him ‘daddy father’ and He loves it when we approach Him.
Let us approach our heavenly Father with confidence, intimacy and reverence today.
Don's Daily Devotional
Join us for an inspiring and exciting adventure exploring God’s Word with Don Edmonds. Don has been a prayer warrior in our church for many years, and we asked him to lead us in 5 scriptures that we can pray into our lives this prayer week. Today's video is in two short parts.
Our key scripture this week is Psalm 103:1-5.
